Worked example
A 50 x 40 x 30 cm parcel has 12 kg volumetric weight with divisor 5000 and 10 kg with divisor 6000. If its actual weight is 8 kg, the preliminary billable weight is the higher dimensional result, subject to the selected courier rules.
Check before using the result
Do not confuse CBM with kilograms, use inner product dimensions, forget multiple parcels, or assume every courier uses divisor 5000. Check oversize limits and whether each parcel is rounded separately.
What this tool does not establish
Remote-area charges, oversize surcharges, fuel, customs, duties, account pricing, dimensional rounding, and prohibited-item rules require the carrier tariff or a live quote.

Why do courier divisors differ?
Each carrier, service, route, and contract can use a different dimensional factor to price low-density parcels.
Is each carton calculated separately?
Often yes. Ask the carrier whether dimensional and actual weight are rounded per piece or after shipment totals.
Does the result include courier cost?
No. It estimates weight basis only; rates and surcharges must come from the courier quote.
