CBM Calculator: what the result means
Use supplier carton dimensions and carton quantity to estimate the total cubic meters a shipment occupies. CBM helps a forwarder compare volume, container space, and sea-freight assumptions; it is not a billing weight by itself.
A realistic way to use it
A carton measuring 50 x 40 x 30 cm is 0.06 CBM. If the order uses 100 identical cartons, the shipment is 6 CBM before pallets or unusable loading space are considered.
Checks that prevent a bad result
Do not mix centimeters, meters, and inches. Measure the outer packed carton, not the product. Confirm whether cartons differ by SKU and whether pallet dimensions must be added.
Turn a CBM result into a quote a forwarder can use
A volume result becomes useful when it is tied to final packed cartons, piece counts, gross weight, and the way the cargo will actually leave the factory.

How is CBM calculated in centimeters?
Multiply length, width, and height, then divide by 1,000,000. Multiply the result by the number of cartons.
Is CBM the same as volumetric weight?
No. CBM is volume in cubic meters. Volumetric weight converts dimensions into a chargeable-weight estimate.
