Free IP Address Lookup Tool

Look up a public IPv4 or IPv6 address, its approximate location, ISP and local time. Compare IP and browser timezones.

Check an IP address

Leave the field empty to detect your current connection, or paste a public IP address from a server log, VPN exit node, analytics report, or customer support message.

  • Use the local time to compare logs and remote work messages.
  • Use ISP and ASN to understand the network behind the address.
  • Remember that IP location is approximate, especially with VPNs, mobile networks, and IPv6 routing.

Enter the address only, without a website URL or port.

IP geolocation is approximate. VPNs, proxies, mobile networks, and IPv6 routing may show the network exit location instead of an exact device location.

What the results mean

IP address is the public address seen by websites and online services. Location usually points to the network provider, data center, VPN exit, or regional gateway rather than a precise device position. Timezone helps you compare log times and local working hours. ISP and ASN identify the network organization behind the connection.

If the city looks wrong, that does not always mean the lookup failed. Internet providers often route traffic through nearby hubs, and VPN or proxy services intentionally show a different network location.

Frequently asked questions

Is this my GPS location?

No. This is an approximate IP database location. The tool does not request GPS permission and cannot identify a person or street address.

Which IP version does “Use my IP” show?

It shows the address used to reach the detection endpoint, with an IPv4 fallback if that request fails. Use the separate protocol buttons to check IPv4 and IPv6 individually.

Why does IP time differ from my computer?

The IP timezone belongs to the queried network record; the browser timezone comes from your device’s settings. The clock formats your device’s current instant and does not synchronize your system clock.

What is an ASN?

An autonomous system number identifies a network that participates in internet routing. It describes the network organization, not an individual user.

What happens to a lookup request?

Automatic detection contacts ipify. Network details are requested through this website and obtained from external IP lookup providers. Copying a result is your choice. See the privacy information.
